Earlier this year, Rugby Tens partnered with former USA 7s International and World Rugby lead commentator Dallen Stanford to launch the R10 Broadcast Commentary Program—a groundbreaking course designed to develop the next generation of rugby broadcasters.
“This has been another exciting year as we expanded R10 opportunities for coaches, officials, and broadcast commentators. We’re proud to provide participants with life-changing experiences and meaningful ways to upskill beyond the playing field, in partnership with Dallen, who has been with us since the R10 inception every step of the way and highly values investing in young talent.” – Andreea Trufasu, Founder & CEO, R10

Multi-Level Pathway to Real-World Broadcast Opportunities
The program is structured across three levels, with Levels 1 and 2 delivered remotely. Participants who have a passing grade for both are eligible for on-site commentary opportunities at R10 events—working alongside Dallen Stanford himself.
This year, nine candidates completed Level 1. Of those, six have progressed to complete Level 2.
A standout highlight is former Irish international Anna Caplice, who recently served as a commentator at the 2025 Women’s Rugby World Cup in England — the most attended and widely viewed tournament in the event’s history! Anna, a two-time Rugby Championship winner with the Balkans Honey Badgers, has transitioned from an accomplished playing career to a prominent role in international broadcasting with BBC Sport. Hearing her voice on such a global stage is a proud and inspiring moment for us all!
Jay Hare had the exceptional opportunity to provide live commentary at the R10 Youth Invitationals in July in San Clemente, working alongside Dallen Stanford on various matches and conducting post-match interviews with players and coaches.
The R10 Broadcast Commentary Program continues to raise the bar for rugby media training—equipping emerging voices with the tools, confidence, and experience to thrive in live sports broadcasting!
